NCDS Director Eligibility Criteria 2026
Educational Qualification
- Candidates should possess qualifications as prescribed by ICSSR/UGC for the selection of Professor in Economics, Sociology, or Anthropology.
- Applicants must be scholars of national eminence in the field of social science.
- Candidates should have at least 10 years of organizational and administrative experience.
- Applicants should have experience in interdisciplinary research and publications of high academic standard.
Age Limit
- Preferred Maximum Age: Below 60 Years
- Age relaxation may be granted in exceptional cases by the Government of Odisha.
- No candidate shall continue beyond 65 years of age.
NCDS Director Salary 2026
Selected candidates will receive salary under Level-14 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix along with admissible allowances as per Odisha Government rules.
- House Rent Allowance (HRA) will be applicable.
- Other perquisites and allowances will be provided as per institute rules.
- Retired candidates may also apply under re-employment rules.
NCDS Director Tenure Details
The tenure of appointment will normally be for 3 years initially. It may be extended for another period not exceeding 3 years based on government decision and performance.
Selection Process
The Director will be appointed by the State Government on the recommendation of the Search-cum-Selection Committee constituted by the Government. The committee reserves the right to reject any application without assigning any reason.

The completed application form along with detailed bio-data and required documents must reach the institute within 30 days from the date of publication of advertisement, i.e. by 05:30 PM on 12 June 2026.
